Shadowban complaints are Bitcoin Twitter‘s recurring claim of algorithmic persecution — posts announcing that the poster is being suppressed, which reliably garner immense engagement, thereby disproving themselves.

The bit was formally killed (in theory) in January 2023, when Matt Taibbi‘s Twitter Files review found “zero evidence” of any suppression of Bitcoin accounts and reclassified the complaints as “some sort of engagement farming technique.” The Bugle’s taxonomy divides complainants into two tiers: those whose tweets are simply bad, and those farming. Whether the bit stays dead is a separate question; no grievance on Bitcoin Twitter has ever been retired by evidence.
