Character

Fred Krueger

Fred Krueger (@dotkrueger) is a Bitcoin commentator of contested allegiance — a mathematician by the record’s own account, an ETF apologist by his posting, and, briefly, a seeded entrant in a maximalist tournament that had not checked whether he was one. The Bugleverse cites him less as a participant than as a boundary marker: whichever side of Bitcoin’s purity line is being drawn, Krueger is standing on the other one.

His founding position in the record is custodial. Bugle News covered his argument that a spot ETF makes you a Bitcoin owner outright — “IF YOU OWN THE SPOT ETF, YOU OWN THE BITCOIN” — filed under the paper’s standing diagnosis of low testosterone.1 The same item preserves his adjacent contribution to relationship theory: that a man’s wife living with her boyfriend is essentially the same as her living with him.2

The purity-test ledger

By January 2025 Krueger’s name had become a unit of measurement. Interrogating Mike on his failures — “instead of talking about purity tests you are failing,”3Richard Greaser ruled that a MicroStrategy position passes or fails depending on whose ledger you consult: in Michael Saylor‘s and Krueger’s, it passes. The name is mangled to “Brad Krueger” at the cue, and the identification is probable rather than certain.3

The verdict from the other direction arrived a month later. Asked who actually owns Bitcoin Twitter after the maxi exodus to Nostr, Rod Palmer answered with a slate — Tether, “the liquid Tether Alliance,”4 and Krueger — characterized as people who use Bitcoin to elevate a platform and then dump meme coins on the followers it earns them. Krueger is, on this reading, Bitcoin Twitter‘s landlord and not its tenant.

Maxi Madness

None of which prevented his seeding. In March 2025 Greaser tipped Krueger for a breakout year, and Rod’s supporting case rested on pedigree: Krueger is “really a mathematician who was friends with Giovanni who invented the power law”.5 The credential was doing unstable work — the power law was, that same week, being buried — and the claim carries only medium confidence in the record. Krueger drew Preston Pysh in the first round.5

The vetting did not survive the following episode. Defending the selection committee’s pick, Rod conceded the whole of his method: “I figured if he was at a swan salon with Corey that he was a Bitcoin maximalist. I was wrong apparently”.6 A photograph with Cory Klippsten had been sufficient. Krueger was one of three contested entries in Maxi Madness 2025, alongside Jason Williams and Teddy Bitcoins; the bracket was not amended, on the stated grounds that the show could not afford the lawyers.6

The record therefore leaves Krueger unresolved and unremoved — admitted to a maximalist tournament by a committee that has since disowned its reasoning, and left in it anyway.

  3. Behind The Podcast 7 @ 28:19. Greaser’s ruling at Behind The Podcast 7 @ 28:44: “it depends on whose book, because in Michael Sailor and Brad Krueger’s book, it’s a pass” — ASR “Michael Sailor” is Michael Saylor; “Brad Krueger” is most likely this Fred Krueger, but the attribution is probable, not certain. 2

  4. Behind the Podcast 11 @ 14:06. Krueger is named by name in the adjacent cue at 14:09.

  5. Bugle Weekly 51 @ 18:50; the quote spans this cue and the next. Greaser’s tip at Bugle Weekly 51 @ 18:21: “is gonna have a breakout year, I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people, is Fred Kruger” (ASR alternates “Kruger” and “Krueger”). Pysh named as the first-round opponent at Bugle Weekly 51 @ 19:07. “Giovanni”, the power law’s author, has no page in this wiki. 2
