Character
Gigi
Gigi is an offstage authority in the Bugleverse: a Nostr-adjacent writer who never appears as a speaker but gets quoted by people trying to explain why Nostr feels different. He is cited, not interviewed.
His one recorded contribution to the record is an aphorism about zap economics, delivered secondhand by Walker America during a discussion of why bad-vibes posters fail to take root on Nostr: “like, Gigi says, you wouldn’t zap a car crash. Nobody wants to zap your bad vibes. You wanna zap good vibes.”1 Walker treats this as the mechanism under his whole vibes theory — rage posting gets no purchase on a value-for-value protocol because there is no algorithmic incentive to reward it, and nobody voluntarily sends money at a wreck. In the same breath he distils the point again: “You’ll look at a car crash. You’ll maybe be enthralled by it. You won’t zap it. You won’t give it your value.”1
He is also known in the universe as an author. characters/richard-greaser, listing podcasts worth hearing, credits Guy Swan’s “narration of the 21 lessons by,”2 naming Gigi as the writer a beat later and pronouncing it a “Great book.”3 The ASR splits the attribution across two cues, which is why the author’s name arrives after the book’s.
His material sits inside storylines/nostr-watch and storylines/fountain-podcasting-2-0 without him ever showing up for either.
