Luke Dash-JR is a renowned Bitcoin developer and security expert, a distinction he holds concurrently with having lost several hundred Bitcoin in a hot wallet hack. In the Bugleverse he is the living embodiment of his own maxim: “loss is the best teacher… Take me for example.”

Arc history

Luke entered canon in March 2023 as a founder, announcing the Fyre Wallet — a “hot-ish-cold” storage product built with legendary entrepreneur Billy McFarland in direct response to his own hack (Luke Dash-JR to Launch Bitcoin Storage Solution). He vouched for the product’s C++/Rust foundations, called it “almost impossible to breach without serious personal misconduct,” and cited his “mostly successful advanced security framework that I use to protect myself from COVID and my Bitcoin assets.” He promised the wallet was only the first step toward a resilient Bitcoin ecosystem — “For real this time.”

irl: Luke Dashjr is a real, long-tenured Bitcoin Core developer, famous for both deep protocol contributions and for losing 200+ BTC in a December 2022 breach of his personal setup, as well as for strict COVID precautions and, later, for his crusade against Ordinals as spam. The Fyre Wallet and McFarland partnership are invented.
