Trudeau Threatens To Ban Bitcoin mining, Steve Barbour Sets Up Generator And Hash Hut In Ottawa

Richard Greaser reports on Steve Barbour‘s response to President Justin Trudeau‘s threats to ban Bitcoin mining: setting up a Hash Hut and generator in the middle of Ottawa, in a move reminiscent of the 2022 Canadian Trucker Protest. “I will add a megawatt of capacity a day until you rescind your stupid threats,” Barbour told a news reporter.

Media coverage was overall negative, focused on generator noise keeping residents awake. Despite the Canadian government freezing Barbour’s bank account, his funding continued uninterrupted and he kept buying miners to plug in. JW Weatherman threatened legal action against Barbour for accepting Bitcoin donations; details were not available at press time.

Canadian authorities expressed bafflement as Bitcoin miners from across the country converged on Ottawa to block roads with makeshift barriers built from S9 chassis. A continent-wide buying frenzy for mining hardware followed; Kaboomracks tweeted that it had sold out of S9s “for the time being.”

Trudeau reportedly went into seclusion suffering severe climate change side effects, and was expected to emerge and declare a state of emergency for the second time in his presidency. The Bugle reached out to Barbour for comment but did not hear back.

This is the founding beat of Trudeau vs. Bitcoin mining.

  • The article twice styles Justin Trudeau President of Canada and refers to “his presidency” (this article). No other canon yet addresses the constitutional structure of Bugleverse Canada.

irl: Steve Barbour is a real off-grid mining entrepreneur (Upstream Data) and Trudeau-era Canada really did freeze protesters’ bank accounts during the 2022 trucker convoy — the joke is that Bitcoin funding can’t be frozen. Kaboomracks is a real used-miner marketplace and its quoted sell-out tweet is real. JW Weatherman is a real Bitcoin personality known for threatening litigation. Trudeau was Prime Minister, not President.
