Max Keiser's Antics
Max Keiser is the Bugleverse’s Bitcoin evangelist-in-residence at the court of Nayib Bukele — a man the record covers first as an actor and later as a unit of measurement. The arc has two halves. Through 2023 the Bugle reports on things Keiser does. From 2024 on, the hosts mostly invoke him: as a credential, as a warning, as a bracket seed, and finally as a prophet. He is cited more often than he appears.
The 2023 reporting
The Bugle first books him for a fight. Alex Gladstein, Chief Strategy Officer of the Human Rights Foundation, is set to box Keiser during Bitcoin 2023, a bout in which Gladstein is favored on youth and intelligence-agency background while Keiser is noted principally for muscular legs.1 Gladstein’s pre-fight trash talk diagnoses the obsession that drives the rest of the arc: “Max has been absolutely obsession with Bukele… It’s time for him to admit he’s wrong about him and stop promoting a dictator.”1 The record does not report an outcome.
In September the obsession curdles. Keiser is arrested outside the National Palace in San Salvador at around 4am — shirtless, in handcuffs, a towel around his waist — after allegedly soliciting payment for sexual favors from Bukele and becoming belligerent when the president declined.2 Saifedean Ammous claims to have paid the bail in Bitcoin, on the grounds that “us government prostitutes need to stick together.”2 Gladstein applauds. Keiser, mid-article, calls Richard Greaser a scammer on Twitter, which the Bugle treats as evidence he is already out.2
By November he has been promoted from participant to precedent. In the Bugle’s account of Bitcoiners simping for Javier Milei, Keiser is “a visionary when it comes to simping,” a man “making a career out of simping for” Bukele — the benchmark against which the newer political simps are measured.3
The reference-point years
By May 2024 the El Salvador connection has hardened into a qualification. Rod’s list of the top three journalists opens with Keiser, whose credentials are settled by “an honorary bachelor’s in journal journalism by the University of El Salvador in San Salvador” — after which, Rod holds, the doubters can shut up.4 The rest of the podium is Tim Pool and Glenn Greenwald.
In July he appears in the 95 Theses as a thing plebs should stop doing. Greaser reads the grievances against PODCONF‘s approved stack — Chivo shouldn’t be the sanctioned wallet, River shouldn’t be the sole Lightning provider, and plebs shouldn’t let Keiser and Bukele do their thinking for them.5 The thesis is notable for what it concedes: the Keiser–Bukele alliance is intact and operating as a cognitive utility.
That utility is revoked in December 2024, on air. Mid-record, Stacy Herbert retweets the Bugle‘s own post “discussing that Max Kaiser and Steve Stacy Herbert have been evicted from El Salvador” — the paper’s reporting arriving back as the news event it describes.6
March 2025 finds him seeded into Maxi Madness and eliminated on anatomy. Greaser’s second-round call goes to Aubrey Strobel: “And I think the community is gonna determine that Aubrey has nicer legs than my Max Kizer.”7 It is the second time in the record that Keiser’s legs are entered as evidence, and the first time they lose.
The last beat rehabilitates him as a seer. In January 2026 a guest reaches for “Max Keiser’s casino gulag he was always talking about? Isn’t that kinda something?” to name the endgame of digital ID, CBDC, and a gamified life administered through your AI assistant for daily rations.8 The man evicted from the country he credentialed himself in returns to the record as the one who called it.
Disputed
The seeded version of this page dated the arc 2023-04 to 2023-11 and sourced it to a breadth sweep of headlines. That is wrong on span: the beat index carries verified material through 2026-01-18, and the episode half of the arc is larger than the news half.
Two source-level tensions survive and are not resolved here:
- Standing with Bukele. The September 2023 report has Keiser arrested after Bukele personally denies him, with his “status as the President’s paid shill… unknown at this time.”2 Yet by July 2024 the 95 Theses treat Keiser and Bukele as a functioning joint thinking apparatus that plebs must be warned off,5 and by May 2024 Keiser holds a Salvadoran honorary degree presented as settling the matter.4 The record contains no reconciliation beat. Either the arrest did not stick, or it went unmentioned.
- The boxing match. The bout is announced for Bitcoin 2023;1 no source in this index reports that it happened. Henry’s note: absence of a result is not a result.
irl: Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert are real people who really did advise the government of El Salvador on Bitcoin. Everything above is the Bugleverse’s account and should not be mistaken for reporting.
